The following commentary comes from My Statement in Favor of the Taxpayer to open the Sept. 29th edition of the Taxpayers Tea Party Show on 990am or WGSO.com

I read a recent article in the New York Times, yes I occassionally read their lefty so-called journalism, if I don't keep up with the liberal propaganda I can't fight for the hearts and minds of Americans effectively.  The article published yesterday starts out with stating, "A specter is haunting Europe - the specter of Socialisms slow collapse."  It goes on to say that even as the European economies are suffering and they are experiencing many of the same crisis's in banking and finance the socialist and other far left wing political parties are still not in power or are only in power through broad coalitions.  The far left in Europe is completely anti-capitalist and favors government control of the economy.  During previous tough economic times the socialists were often swept to huge election victories, but over the last couple of years the center-right politicians have been elected and re-elected, Sarkozy in France, Merkel in Germany, and it appears the Torries wil take back power in England soon.

So it may seem the European people have awoken to the evils of socialism, that the idea of self determination whereby you reap what you sow through your own hard work may be establishing itself in their minds now.  Could it be that Europe will lead the western world back towards the ideas of free markets, economic freedom and personal liberty where there are inequalities in earnings because there are inequalities in the personal decisions of market participants?  Not so fast.

What appears to really be happening is that the so called center right politicians are just becoming adept at skimming off the most palatable ideas from teh socialists and promoting them as their own.  As a parisian political historian described in the NY Times article, Europe's so-called conservatives have adapted themselves to modernity.  When Sarkozy of France and Germany's Merkel condemn the excesses of the Anglo-Saxon model of capitalism while praising the protective power of the state, they are using socialist ideas that have become mainstream, he said.

And there's the crux of it folks, socialism creeps in and takes hold only to spread and destroy just like the mold after Katrina.  We cannot allow ourselves to become trapped in a case, as in Europe, where the center right parties have embraced many ideas of the left: generous welfare benefits, nationalized health care, sharp restrictions on carbon emissions, the ceding of some sovereignty.

When Senator Olympia Snowe embraces many of the current left proposals for a health care takeover or Senator McCain embraces the cap and tax plan you must not allow yourself to be pulled along just because you're a Republican.  When our local elected Republicans embrace higher taxes and bigger government you must not continue to support them without question because they carry an R next to their name on the ballot.  If you refuse to stand up for individual liberty, freedom, less government and lower taxes, all the time, then you've really done it, none of the time.

We are headed down the same path to socialism Europe has already been down, it is too late for them, it's getting close to too late for us.  Just think of the changes within the Republican party and many attitudes over the last twenty years.

IT WAS, that the federal department of education was bad and we proposed to close it, allow all public education to be run at the state and local level.  IT IS NOW, more than 300% bigger and has local school districts jumping through hoops to comply with federal regulations that in many cases just don't make sense.

IT WAS, that we should be focused on individual liberty, less government, living within our means as a nation.  IT IS NOW, the ineffective monstrosity DHS and the greatest expansion of government ever, with much of it under a Republican President and Congress.

IT WAS, pick yourself up, get off the floor and do what you have to do to correct the situation in which you've found yourself or risk letting your future and family go to ruin.  IT IS NOW, don't do anything if you find yourself knocked down by bad luck or bad times otherwise you might miss out on free government help.

We better be careful, socialism is creeping up our walls of freedom and liberty.

And that concludes my statement in favor of the taxpayer.
